Hi, I’m a Bermudian photographer with a deep passion for capturing moments that won’t get lost “in the triangle.” There’s something deeply special about turning fleeting moments into timeless memories, and that’s what drives everything I do.
My journey into photography started humbly during my college years. Back then, I was just a broke student with a camera, hoping to make a little extra money on the side. But even as a kid, I was always drawn to creative outlets and holding on to moments.
For years, photography was something I juggled with a 9-to-5 career. One of my first jobs was in hospitality at the Hamilton Princess, where I learned the importance of exceptional customer service and the value of creating memorable experiences. Later, I transitioned into roles in international business and insurance. While those chapters of my life taught me so much, my passion for photography kept calling me back. In 2024, I finally took a leap of faith, leaving the corporate world behind to pursue my dream full-time. That year, I successfully photographed 30 weddings and countless proposals, couples, families, and even corporate clients. It was one of the most rewarding years of my life!
When I’m not photographing, you’ll usually find me out exploring Bermuda with my husband. Whether we’re walking along nature trails or enjoying the view from a pink sand beach, we love discovering new corners of this beautiful island. Bermuda, known as the “Gem of the Atlantic,” is such an incredible source of inspiration for me. Its vibrant colors and lush landscapes often find their way into my work, serving as picture-perfect backdrops for my clients’ photoshoots.
I’m always looking for new ways to grow and push my creativity further. Lately, I’ve been diving into aerial drone photography and experimenting with fun video reel transitions. These new skills let me tell stories in fresh and exciting ways, adding extra layers of depth to the memories I capture.
APPROACH & EXPERTISE
As a Bermudian photographer, I specialize in storytelling through candid, heartfelt images that capture genuine emotions and natural expressions. My approach avoids overly posed or rigid sessions, focusing instead on the moments in between—the shared smiles, quiet glances, and spontaneous laughter that tell a deeper story. Every session is an opportunity to document memories that resonate for years to come.
I prioritize building a connection with my clients before each session, helping them feel relaxed and confident in front of the camera. This personalized approach ensures that their unique personalities and vision shine through in every image. Whether it’s a family milestone, a special event, or a simple portrait session, I bring curiosity and creativity to highlight the essence of the moment.
Bermuda’s stunning natural beauty often becomes an integral part of my work. From its pink sand beaches to its lush botanical trails, the island’s landscapes serve as breathtaking backdrops that enhance the vibrancy in my style. EDITING STYLE
My editing philosophy is rooted in enhancing the natural beauty of the moment while maintaining a timeless appeal. I lean toward true-to-life color tones that feel vibrant yet authentic, allowing the emotions and details of each image to shine. Whether it’s the soft hues of Bermuda’s pink sand beaches, the vivid greens of lush landscapes, or the warm glow of golden-hour light, I aim to preserve the rich, natural colors that make every scene unique.
At the same time, I’m not afraid to experiment with artistic trends when they complement a gallery. For instance, I sometimes incorporate a film-inspired aesthetic to evoke nostalgia or a moody vibe to emphasize depth and drama. These stylistic touches are carefully selected to suit the mood of the occasion, ensuring that every image feels both personal and professional.
Living and working in Bermuda, I’m inspired daily by the island’s vibrant palette and tropical charm. This influence carries through to my editing process, where I strive to highlight the island’s authentic beauty. My goal is to create images that not only reflect the love and joy of the moment but also pay homage to the extraordinary setting in which they were captured.
MENTORSHIP
There’s nothing like hands-on experience! Since founding MAETOG over a decade ago, I’ve collaborated with many talented and creative individuals. In 2022, I brought on my first intern to photograph a wedding, discovering a deep passion for mentoring aspiring photographers. By 2024, I had expanded this mentorship program, coaching two interns through summer and winter weddings. This included guidance on camera techniques, providing practical work experience, and teaching the intricacies of post-production.
Watching my interns grow into confident photographers has been incredibly rewarding. They’ve honed their ability to “train their eye,” deliver a professional client experience, refine their editing styles, and master the post-production workflow.
Fun fact: MAETOG is “GO TEAM” spelled backward—a reminder of my commitment to supporting and uplifting other creatives. Mentoring is more than a passion; it’s a way to inspire and empower the next generation of photographers.
